Japanese brand Buzz Rickson’s are widely considered one of the few high-end reproduction brands of military garments out there.

A new jacket for their line-up this year is the Astronauts Jacket, based on a jacket issued to those part-taking in ‘Project Mercury’, pioneering manned Space programmes such as Apollo & current Artemis. 

Buzz have faithfully reproduced the Astronauts Jacket to exacting standards, fit for day-day civilian wear! The Astronauts Jacket is cut in Japan from a heavy-duty cotton canvas, exclusive to Buzz Rickson’s and modelled exactly on original vintage examples. The canvas is a relatively heavy duty fabric and will show signs of wear after some use, while the jacket features a full rayon lining. 

As per the brands spec, the jacket features exact detailing found on originals. The zip front uses an Aluminum Spring Automatic Lock, while the pull tab makes use of horsehide off cuts used on their A2’s. The waistband & collar uses a heavy gauge wool knit, while all snap buttons throughout meet mil spec. The snap pockets and single pocket on the arm with zip closure have been paired with a woven Kings Point MFG Co label.
